And may it be a blessed one. God has done much in the lives of our youth in the past year, and we are excited to see what 2010 holds.
Question: What do a downtown Fresno photography class, a dodgeball tournament at Sanger High, and a substance abuse lesson at Roosevelt High have in common? Answer: If you’ve been around YFC for any length of time, you know the answer! We reach kids in a variety of places with a variety of methods. We do what it takes to speak the language of youth, the language of today, so that some might be won over to the Gospel message. It is exciting and challenging work.
I want to emphasize that YOU are reaching youth for Christ – as you pray, support, and volunteer alongside us.
Here is a story of how, together, we reach kids through a variety of means (as told by Jameson, our Friend2Friend staff):
A small group of YFC mentors and teens was recently talking about God’s grace. We thought of people who might be far from God and we prayed for them. One high school student, “Patricia,” received a text from her friend “Joshua” just seconds after praying for him. Patricia knew some of Joshua’s story, and she called him back. He began to share with her how a heartbreaking situation was starting to turn around. At that point, Patricia sensed that Joshua might be seeing God move in his circumstances. So she took a chance and asked him about God. That question opened all sorts of spiritual areas. Patricia shared how God had brought her out of depression and Joshua told her about wounding he’d never talked about before. Patricia called me afterwards, really excited. She realized that God was revealing himself to Joshua and she was part of his work! God used her story, her testimony, to build a bridge between them and between him and God. As for Joshua, Patricia invited him to become part of our Friend2Friend group. The story is to be continued...
Remember, this whole story began in prayer. Prayer is power. It’s a part of this story that has influenced Patricia and has played a role in bringing about an important conversation with her friend Joshua (see James 5:16).
We love to hear life-changing stories like this one. You can continue to support our youth through your prayers, volunteerism, and financial gifts. Please view our new video, right on this site. Share it with others so that they, too, will catch the vision of reaching youth for Christ.
